Why You Shouldn't Smoke During Pregnancy.
There are so many dangers to your unborn child if you are smoking during pregnancy. There are many reasons why you should quit smoking now but most importantly is that it is better for your baby's health.
There will be many positive health benefits for you and you will feel so much better. Of course pregnancy is a stressful time, but you must be committed and just do it. Here are just a few of the many hidden dangers for your child when you're smoking during pregnancy. As a responsible mother-to-be, it is best to quickly get advice from medical professionsal about utilizing stop smoking aids which may help you quit smoking as quickly as possible.
The worst effect of smoking during pregnancy can be the death of your child. Second hand smoke is also very dangerous and increases your child's risk of dying from SIDS, or sudden infant death syndrome. Specifically, SIDS is defined as the sudden death of an infant less than a year old, and there is no explanation or apparent cause of it. So that is obviously an extremely serious risk that a smoking pregnant mother is taking with her child. If more women were aware of the risks of smoking while pregnant, we believe that more would work harder to quit.
There is a trend being noticed among babies of smoking mothers. The heart rate of babies of smoking mothers is higher than those of non smoking mothers. Women who smoke have babies with a heart rate that is approximately 30% higher. We are talking about mothers who smoked during pregnancy. Knowing exactly why this condition exists is difficult. Smoking can prevent the baby from receiving the normal amount of oxygen which could be part of the cause.
The possibilities are endless and negative when a pregnant mother smokes. The main culprit is the cigarette smoking, but that can be further broken down into more specific causes.
For example, nicotine is known to constrict blood vessels when it is present in the blood. Of course if it has that affect on you, it will do the same to your baby. When you blood vessels reduce blood flow your heart rate has to increase to compensate. The cardiovascular system of your baby is at risk if you smoke while pregnant.
Smoking during pregnancy has serious effects that could potentially be fatal to your unborn child. Even though most of the know effects passed onto your baby are not fatal, you will be seriously compromising the health of your baby when you smoke. There is evidence supporting that many of the body's organs and processes will be negatively affected. Be a responsible parent-to-be, learn how to quit smoking before you give birth to your child. This will be the best present you ever give to your unborn baby as well as to your personal health and wellbeing.
